About Us

Our Why

The role of the TV meteorologist is changing. Gone are the days of sitting down at 6pm, waiting for the weather segment in the news to listening to the 7-day forecast. Weather data is available everywhere, at anytime, and on any device given a signal or connection to the internet. This does not mean the TV meteorologist, or meteorologist for that matter, are obsolete. Communication and guidance during life threatening or impactful weather events is critical. Simply put, an app won't tell you how a storm is going to impact you or your family and a TV meteorologist is limited to a TV broadcast and the baggage associated with the current media landscape.

Our Company

Horizon Weather recognizes you can get a forecast for almost every place on the planet at any time you want. Horizon Weather also recognizes the weather goes beyond the icons in an app. We are your guide through an impactful and/or dangerous weather event. We are storytellers connecting you to the happenings surrounding the weather, climate, and the environment. We were born in the digital age and designed for the digital age. Our business model allows for the creation of quality content from the best experts, storytellers, and technology. The weather is one of a few things that impacts every single living thing on the planet regardless of income, race, nationality, political affiliation, or location. The best thing you can do is give yourself an edge with the best information to help prepare you for the next couple of hours, days, or even decades.

Our People

For the moment, we (I) am one person. My name is Patrick Wright. I am a senior at Penn State studying meteorology with an emphasis in broadcasting. I have been involved with communication since high school and meteorology since I was a toddler. At Penn State, I grew through the ranks of The Campus Weather Service (the largest student run weather organization in the country), became the vice president, built and designed a new social media team, lead the live broadcast team, and interned at KOMO News in Seattle under Shannon O'Donnell, Steve Pool, and Seth Wayne. I am still young and have a lot to learn. We are at the forefront of a new age for communication and journalism. I want to be in the leading edge with fresh eyes, fresh perspective, and optimism as to where things go next.
